No More Tears

So have you ever checked Craigslist (want ads) for a bike, some clothes, maybe a car, or a pair of designer jeans? How about for a child? Ever scrolled through thinking maybe I'll hop online today and look for a child for purchase-hopefully I can find a good deal?

You may think I'm joking, but there are over 27 million people enslaved today; you thought slavery ended in the 1800's right? So did I. Apparently children and women are trafficked within and across international borders under our very noses, treated as commodities to be bought and sold for profit.

Nearly a million children a year are sold into the highly lucrative business of sex trafficking.

I hope this breaks your heart as much as it did mine. I don't know yet how to be involved, but for now all I can do is keep telling people about it; most people are shocked to find out that there are slaves in their country, their city, even their own neighborhood.

In Europe and in the US, there is a plethora of young prostitutes; some may have chosen this lifestyle as a last resort-a chance to survive, but some were unknowingly forced into it and are being held against their will. Some are minors.

Other forms of slavery include indentured service, forced labor, child soldiers…and yes, a lot of this happens right in your own backyard.

Please pray with me and look into this very pertinent global issue; tell your friends about it. Education and awareness is a crucial step in putting an end to injustice. I'd love to see the sex trade abolished in our lifetime, wouldn't you?
